Skookum sat still after the two cats left, silent as the other rogues booed and hissed. He liked the idea of a clan, the company of other cats if you wanted it, and help if you were sick. But would I really be better off as a clan member? he had been wondering. Skookum prized his solitude and independence. Would that be taken away if he were part of a clan? the other cats around murmured to themselves, a few cats followed Iceclaw and the other cat. Should I go with them? Do I really want to be a part of this clan? As their footfalls grew fainter, he realized he had to make a decision. It's not like I can't leave if I don't fit in, I'm sure... his thoughts trailed off as he realized he wasn't sure if his new 'leader' would let him leave. Finally he got up, realizing he didn't want to live with a "What if" hanging over his head. He followed the scent of the4 two cats, they weren't moving too fast, he managed to catch up with them. Coming up beside the white cat, he gave him a hopeful look "I want to try out this 'clan' thing too." pausing, he repeated "Try it out." then fell silent.

And Icepaw had said no one would come! Obviously, he wasn't aware of his loyal followers. Ravenpaw looked around at all the cats there, ready to join them. Know they had the makings of a Clan to them. It felt pretty nice to have cats around ready to try this out. What worried her was who would be leader. Not a cat there was really fit for the job. They would have to work that out at some point, but not right now. Just getting BreezeClan territory back after the long war over it would be hard. If the Clans were tired of the war, it might be easier, but Ravenpaw wasn't sure how easy it would be. She looked around at all the cats joined there. She wondered if they should wait in case more showed up, or just go now before someone changes their mind.

Skookum took the time they spent idle there to study his potential clanmates. The young female was black with green eyes, just like him. She seemed a brave, feisty cat, a good addition to the new clan. He didn't know her name, looking around, he realized the only name he knew was Iceclaw. "I'm Skookum, by the way." he meowed casually. Iceclaw seemed a little headstrong, but the bicolor cat seemed loyal enough. As for the last cat, the dark grey tom, his smile looked a little arrogant to Skookum, but well-meaning enough. Taking a last glance at the other cats, he noticed that they were all mostly black. Smiling, he mewed "We could call ourselves DarkClan, our pelts match!"

Ravenpaw frowned when she heard Skookum. She didn't the cats name, or anyone here but Icepaw. Whether he was joking or not, Ravenpaw wasn't interested in the thought at all. "We can't be DarkClan, no matter what we look like. I came here to reform BreezeClan, not make a whole new Clan" she snapped, irritated and tired. She ignored the fact that the BreezeClan they were making would basically be a new Clan, and could have a different name. Ravenpaw was just to tired to think about things like possible other names for BreezeClan than BreezeClan. Even if she would think about that, Ravenpaw would find a much better name than DarkClan. Without even trying, she was sliding herself into being the leader of the group.
Part of her felt she had the right. She was, after all, one of the two only BreezeClan cats left. Icepaw could be in charge of the rogues all he wanted, but Ravenpaw was sliding into being in charge of the group without even trying to. She studied all the cats there, not really knowing who they were, but seeing that that one cat like her had had a point, even if he did think up a name as bad as DarkClan.
Just thinking about it made her madder. Ravenpaw was not in a mood to be messed with. She was annoyed she was still an apprentice when she could have stayed for just a few more days to be a warrior, worried this wouldn't work out, and mad at Icepaw because the only reason he came with her was the rogues rejected him. All the cats here were loyal to each other, knew each other. Icepaw barely even knew her, and would no doubt save his friends before her. It made Ravenpaw feel lonely and isolated. She didn't really know anyone here.

Icepaw nodded to the new arrivals. He was surprised, but he was mostly just glad that they had come. When he heard Ravenpaw. He wondered if she wanted to be leader. "Well," he said. "I like BreezeClan. What do you think?" he asked, looking to the other loners.

((Lol, Skookum is actually the name of my old cat. It's half of a chinook name that means 'strong, fast water'. I have no idea what his warrior name should be...))
Skookum was a bit taken aback by the cats reaction. "Take it easy, I was only joking. It really doesn't matter what we're called to me." Sheesh, it's called a joke, and it's not as if it makes a difference, anyway. His doubts rose back from where he had temporarily shoved them. Could he really get along with these cats? For the rest of his life? The last time he had lived with other cats, he had left. Most of all, he didn't like the idea of being bossed around by another cat. He would have to take orders from whoever his leader would be! Not that he wanted to be in charge either, the responsibility would be much too heavy to rest on his shoulders. He liked his freedom. But I do get lonely.... he remembered I'll have to try to make it work. Other questions rose in his mind like Where will we live? How will we ever be strong enough to defend against these other clans? but he felt this wasn't exactly the time to voice his concerns.

Depthshadow was the type to be more direct and pointed about things; throwing Skookum a sympathetic look, and then staring pointedly at Ravenpaw and meowing, "Why are you our leader? Iceclaw has BreezeClan blood also, is older than you, and definitely has a bunch more experience at leading a group." When Iceclaw spoke, he turned to look at the white cat and meowed, "BreezeClan's fine with me. It makes sense to keep the name of the older clan -- we'll be living in the same territory. Besides, that clan... what are they called... ThornClan! the name sounds too close to ClawClan."

Icepaw nodded. "Yes, I do seem the logical choice as leader." he said carefully. "It not like I'm forcing it on you, but I do seem to have the most experience." he did want to be leader. But he wasn't going to force it on him. His last experience as leader wasn't a good one and if there was a better cat for the job he would let them have it. But he had the most experience and it looked like he was stuck being leader.

Skookum shrugged "I don't really mind, I think either of you could be leader. I know I'm not cut out for it." He really wasn't. Way too much responsibility would be involved in being leader, and he knew he wouldn't be able to handle it. I would probably either snap from the pressure, or kill my entire clan with a bad decision, he joked silently. A moment after that thought, the horror of it dawned. What if that really happened? What if I accidentally caused another cat's death? He decided not to think about, as it obviously wouldn't be a problem. Iceclaw and Ravenpaw both seemed to have the right spirit to make a good leader, something he obviously lacked.

Ravenpaw looked over at Depthshadow when he asked why she was leader. She hadn't said anything like that before now, and wasn't even sure she wanted to be. The moment they all said Icepaw should be leader, Ravenpaw couldn't help but get angry, and feel alone. They could all agree on that, but she didn't know him anymore. Ravenpaw didn't trust him. She wished a cat that could lead was here. Icepaw could be a leader of rogues, but not of Clan cats! There was no way she could convince them of that. Icepaw would be leader, then, she couldn't have a say in it. Maybe she had come here, but it certainly seemed Icepaw was getting everything together. What had she done? Snapped at a member of the new BreezeClan! Maybe he is the right leader she thought to herself, turning from the others.
She needed to think about this because, even though he was her cousin, Ravenpaw didn't like Icepaw much at all, and he didn't really seem to like her to much either. These rogues were cats he knew. Ravenpaw was a distant memory, a young kit, not even a moon old. She moved away from the group, hoping they wouldn't follow her. She needed to think about this complication. The thought of a leader hadn't struck her until not long ago. She should have seen it before, maybe tried to bring a warrior with her. Then they would be the best choice, but who would go with her? They were all loyal to MireClan, unlike her. There was nothing to do about that. Ravenpaw lay in the grass and looked around. She closed her eyes and imagined her warrior ceremony. The only name she could imagine getting was Ravenfeather, or maybe Ravenbeak, which didn't make her feel much better. She wanted something unique. Opening her eyes at another unpleasant though, Ravenpaw sighed again. The leader would need a deputy. She knew that maybe, as a former BreezeClan cat, she had the right to it, but would the leader see it that way. Someone from the tight bunch of friends was more likely anyway. They were all friends here. She got them together, did they need her? The answer closed around her before she could imagine anything: Yes. A bunch of rogues making a Clan when their former leader probably didn't even know the warrior code? There was no one here she would be satisfied with as leader, but seeing as it wouldn't be here, probably the cousin she hated, Ravenpaw could teach them the code if they needed it. Maybe BreezeClan wouldn't be like the other Clans. It seemed all to possible, and Ravenpaw didn't like the thought. No matter where her loyalties were, in her heart, Ravenpaw was a Clan cat, and coudl never be a rogue if she tried.

Depthshadow stared off after the MireClan cat with an annoyed expression on his face. So far, he didn't like her much, but he couldn't help feeling at least a little bit sorry for her. It must have been very hard, to grow up in a clan and then find you didn't really belong to that clan at all.
But if he lived in a clan, he would probably find at least one other cat that was difficult to get along with, and Ravenpaw didn't seem too bad, at least not bad enough to deter him from wanting to join BreezeClan. Besides, he liked Iceclaw and the other cat -- Skookum. They would be nice to hang around with.
"So what now?" He meowed, breaking the strange silence that had fallen over the group. "Are we going to get started on our way to this new territory, or talk some more, or what?"

Hearing Depthshadow's words, Skookum wondered if they even had a territory yet. The black she-cat had gone off on her own, he got the feeling she was disappointed. He shrugged, he wasn't going to take it personally, after all, he wasn't a clan cat yet, he didn't know much. At least it showed she cared enough to be mad, although it did annoy him a little. After a few moments of silence, he mewed in reply to Depthshadow "Well, since we might be living together, I wouldn't mind wondering why you guys wanted to join the clan." That interested him a lot, these cats had to have different reasons for joining a clan. Not many rogues would willingly give up their freedom. Maybe they were just a bit lonely like him, and intrigued by clan life? Or were they more worried about being protected when they were old and sick? He could hope that he could live with these cats, and that he'd still be able to keep some of his freedom.

The gray-black tomcat stretched, flattening his front end almost like a pancake on the ground, then flopped down onto his belly. "While we're waiting, we might as well get comfortable," he said. "Well, I used to sort of belong to a group of cats -- not a clan like we have here, or even a loose group like we were before, but there was about fifteen of us and we wandered around for days at a time when we felt like it and sometimes left entirely, but sometimes we returned to the... main camp, I guess you could call it. It was an abandoned barn.
"On one of the trips when I was exploring far from the camp, I met Iceclaw here. He told me about a clan and the group, and I was interested, and he took me to meet you guys," he said with a friendly flick of his tail. "So, what about you?"

Skookum sighed. He knew that question would follow. the group of cats Depthshadow came from sounding a bit like his first home. Something we have in common? "Well, I was born into a colony of quite a few cats living in an abandoned twoleg nest. Eventually, I couldn't take the chaos and left." he paused for a moment, thinking about what to say next. "I became a loner, wandering around a bit, I had a bit of territory, you know. It was a bit lonely though, no-one interested in a conversation. This," he flicked his tail toward Iceclaw "This doesn't seem like chaos. This seems like an interesting idea. I want to see how this works, and be a part of it." he ended a little awkwardly. I hope that didn't sound too bad, he thought. He was hoping to make a good impression. He remembered he'd better explain how he met Iceclaw. "Erm, I heard a couple other cats talking about this, so I followed them to Iceclaw, where I listened to the explanation."

Depthshadow, growing bored of the conversation, wandered off in the direction that Ravenpaw had gone in. He sniffed the air a few times, and the ground, quickly finding her trail and following it. Suddenly, he saw her, and trotted over and sat down, although he was careful to keep his distance. He didn't really know this cat, and he didn't want to act overly familiar. "So? Are you coming?" He meowed, keeping his voice neutral.
