All MireClan and GaleClan leaders, deputies, warriors, and apprentices are welcome to role-play in this thread, however; none of the GaleClan characters should detect any of the MireClan characters until they attack. Also, all GaleClan characters role-playing here may not post until after Caznikk posts with Flametail.

Duststar crouched in the tall grass just outside the GaleClan territory. Ratbite was behind him, and so were most of the warriors from his clan. They sat in wait for the sun to reach the horizon before launching their attack on GaleClan. Duststar wanted more territory and he was going to get more territory whether they stole territory from GaleClan, ThornClan, or toke some of the previous BreezClan territory.

Ratbite crouched beside her leader, with her muscles tensed and ready to pounce as soon as she saw a GaleClan cat pass by. It wasn't fair that all the other clans got to get a nice chunk of territory out of BreezeClan's demise, but MireClan was left out. They had to get their fair share -- by force if need be.
-- -- -- --
Flametail stalked through the camp, extremely nervous. The leader had died last night sometime, and, as deputy, Flametail was now technically the leader of GaleClan. Soon, after the sun set, she would have to travel far into the mountains to the Lightning-Struck Sand. She had never been there before; the medicine cat would have to lead her there. Medicine cat apprentices learned the route as part of their training, but no other cats beside the leader went there.
She knew she needed to rest, to prepare for the journey, but she just couldn't sit still. Finally giving up, she turned for the center of the camp and called out, "Anyone want to go on a patrol?" Without waiting for an answer, she headed away at a slow trot. They could catch up.
((She's not even near the border yet, so no one attack yet or hear her coming))

Patrol? Sure, she wanted to go. Willowpaw rushed off to join Flametail, glad at the thought. A patrol would be pretty fun, but also important, with MireClan and a possible attack. Willowpaw wished Sacrificestar hadn't died, they might not seem so vulnerable then. There was nothing to do but patrol now. Willowpaw followed in her usual silent way, as if she weren't even there, not disappearing, but seeming as though she was something to be looked over, like a grain of sand on a beach, or a drop of water in a river. It was her proudest accomplishment.

Flametail heard the scurrying paws of some cat, and paused, waiting for the other cat to catch up to her. "Hi, Willowpaw. How are you doing -- training going well?" She meowed in a friendly way before speeding up to a fast trot and heading further towards the MireClan border.
The MireClan scent markers reeked, and Flametail curled her upper lip back in disgust. "Terrible," she muttered as she turned and began heading south along the border line. "Keep a sharp eye out," she advised the apprentice. "Sometimes you can't see those cats until you're right on top of them."
((All right, MireClan can attack now))

"Training is going fine" Willowpaw told her quickly, hurrying to keep up. She listened to Flametail, and nodded. She would attention for sure. Willowpaw looked around, trying to find any abnormalities in the landscape. She couldn't see anything, but it made her look all the harder. Willowpaw wasn't about to believe there was no one out there without a thorough look. She searched the same places over and over before looking in new places. She started at every sound, listened for anything that wasn't right. She wanted to be ready if MireClan attacked, not on her back before she even knew they were there.

Duststar could both smell and hear the other cats approaching. He crouched, ready to ponce on the unsuspecting group. He placed his back paw further back for leverage and heard the crunch of dry leaves. At that moment, he jumped. He would have waited but the leaves would have given his group away. And they wouldn't have surprised the group. He fell snarling in front of a young cat and clawed at her before she could react.

Willowpaw suddenly found herself attacked. She hissed in anger and tried to back away, but was clawed in the face before she could react. Temporarily blinded, she backed away spitting, and bumped into a cat. She whirled around, then recognized Flametail and turned back. She saw the cat who had attacked her: Duststar. She didn't really care he was a leader and this was her first moon as an apprentice, he had hurt her, and he would pay, if she could get to him. Willowpaw hissed and stared where she was, however, unsure if Flametail wanted to go after him herself or something. It was hard to stay put but Willowpaw didn't want to go into a right into a trap. Maybe she should go back to camp.

Swiftshadow had joined Duststar on his attack of GaleClan. He growled when he smelled their scent. GaleClan had gotten territory; MireClan had not. When Duststar jumped in Swiftshadow was ready, he jumped around, searching for a good spot. He was ready to help his Clan get territory from GaleClan. He was a little surprised at the size of the patrol though; they could be beaten so easily.

A blur of brown fur brushed past, and Flametail sensed a thump as it landed almost on top of the younger cat, who hissed and backed away. "Willowpaw!" The orange and black she-cat put herself in between Duststar and the young apprentice, snarling at the MireClan leader a warning to back off. "Willowpaw, go, run, keep following the border the way we were going, find the other patrol and come back with it. Right now!"
-- -- -- --
"Duststar! Swiftshadow!" The MireClan deputy called her two nearest clanmates over. "Swiftshadow, you take everyone except for me and Duststar. Follow that apprentice, and keep her and her reinforcements from arriving. Duststar... if that's all right with you?"

Willowpaw nodded and dashed off, running as fast as she possibly could back the way they had come. She was sure they would follow her, but she could not let them catch her. Her only advantage was knowing the area. She didn't stay completely on the trail, going off in some other direction once in a while. It took longer, but it also helped confuse the trail. Willowpaw didn't really have any idea if that was a good thing to do, but she was out of ideas at the moment. She nearly ran into a tree, jumping away just in time, and then she kept on running as fast as she possibly could.

Duststar nodded quickly to his deputy before turning to Flametail. He snarled, clawing at her and backed up before she could retaliate. He had caught this little patrol off guard and had already out-numbered the deputy and had already sent cats after the clan's fleeing apprentice. This was going to be fun.

Swiftshadow was happy to go after the apprentice. He called together a few cats then rushed off; he followed her scent back, confused when it ran around, and annoyed. He snarled but kept going on her trail; she might take a turn and he would lose her by going forward. Swiftshadow found it annoying and unnecessary; they would still catch her before she got anywhere.

Willowpaw heard the sound of cats behind her. Terrified, she tried to speed up, but she was already at her limit. There were going to catch up to her, she could feel it. The cats were older, taller, and stronger than her. They could run faster and longer than her. With that thought, there was only one thing there was to do, rely on her knowledge. Maybe she could lose them somewhere in GaleClan territory. There was a lot of patchy grass around still, but was fading as she got to the other end of the territory, somehow bypassing the camp and ending up in the mountains. Terrified, Willowpaw jumped up the rocky hills, scrambling to get as high as she could before going down. She climbed up to a rocky ledge, ran the full distance, then jumped down carefully and, out of the view of the MireClan cats, dashed back to the camp. Willowpaw prayed it would take a while to reach them, and also that the other patrol sent out was at camp, because she hadn't run into them.

Flametail dodged away from the MireClan leader, but wasn't quite fast enough. She felt his claws, and snarled, spinning around and leaping at him, biting ferociously.
But there was too many of them! Frantically she tried to dodge the attacks while keeping Duststar between her and the other cat, and throwing in a few claws-swipes of her own.

Aquafrost was trotting along the border quietly, the sunlight touching his blue fur with flecks of orange and turning his light red eyes to a sort of fiery peachy color when he heard pawsteps ahead. Recognizing the cat as she came in sight, he said, "Hi, Willowpaw. Hunting going well lately?" before he noticed the frantic look on her face. He immediately ran over to her. "What's wrong?"

"MireClan!" she shouted, "that's what's wrong! Flametail told me to go get help, but their after me, and she's fighting the rest on her own. You have to go help her!" Willowpaw didn't really mean to yell at Aquafrost, but she was as scared as she could be, and knew so much about it she didn't conceive that others might not know what was happening. She wasn't completely talking in a way that may since either.
