The large nose of the apprentice searched the ground, Dewpaw's paws padding towards the fresh-kill pile, looking up long enough to see it was empty. He remembered the clan was new, and the apprentice and warriors were few...He should probably go hunting, but personally thought the venture was quite irreverent. He would wait until a leader or deputy told him - besides, he was a Medicine Cat Apprentice. His talents laid in that of the holistic nature of herbs. His hairless self lazied himself over towards the center of camp, and simply lay in the sun, warming his skin.

Skookum slipped silently through the grass, only small rustling sounds could be heard as the dry sedge slipped past his short pelt. The sweet smell of the grass surrounded him as he slipped through slowly, the hot day was putting him in a lazy mood. His shoulders swaying as he walked, he was almost at the camp, returning from an early morning walk he had taken. The shade in the grass was welcome to him, the sun had soon become hot on his black pelt. All too soon, the grass ended, and he found himself back in the camp. Not an unpleasant sight itself, with a few cats lounging around here and there and the sound of sleeping cats in dens. Everyone seemed to be enjoying this day, and for a good reason too, with Leafbare approaching it could be one of their last. One pelt in particular caught his interest. It was the supposed new medicine cat apprentice. Skookum hadn't had much of a chance to talk to him yet, and thinking for a moment, why not do so now? As he approached curiously, he couldn't help staring a bit at the cat's pelt. It was hairless, no fur, with wrinkles all up and down. How could a cat be like that? How would he be protected from the hot sun and icy frost? Standing next to him, he mewed casually "Good morning!" a few tail-lengths to the left was a patch of shade, he made for that spot and settled himself down. "The sun's a bit hot for me" he said, sighing as the shade sheltered his black pelt from the hot sun. "So, err" he stumbled, trying to think of something to start a conversation with "Where're you from? You know, before joining BreezeClan and all that," he mewed, tripping over his words a little. He had settled on a question he knew he'd find interesting, Skookum really wanted to know why the others had decided to join BreezeClan. Mostly to decide what to think of it really.
((Woah, that's longer then I was expecting XD))

Midnightkit jumped awake, suddenly to her paws. She had a horrible nightmare. She had to leave her mother and join a clan! She blinked and looked around at the grass she had fallen asleep in. There was no way she was going to sleep in the den with cats she didn't know! Her eyes widened. No! It was true! She looked at her paws, claws digging into the dirt. She pressed her ears back. But it had already been decided...
She lowered her head and walked out into the center of the camp, stretching her forelegs out. She let out a short breath as she looked towards some other cats who were lounging in the sun. She finally noticed that it was burning hot out. Her coat was on fire! She groaned inwardly, but trotted towards a patch of shade -- then she noticed another cat was there.
"Oh, sorry." She said quickly, tensing and looking the black cat, stepping away from him.
[[OOC: Hope you don't mind if I join. x3;;]]

Dewpaw noticed the extreme change in temperature as it got hotter, and moved himself over so that all but his head was in the shade. He always had to be careful of such things such as heat stroke. And he was a medicine cat apprentice, for Starclan's sake! He shook his head, then looked up as a black cat who he had briefly seen before came up to lay beside him. Someone to actually talk to! Inside he smiled. Since he joined, it was surprising how many people didn't mind his lack of pelt! He looked to the cat as he started to speak. His ears twitched at the question. It was a long story to tell...
He decided to shorten it considerably, leaving out as much as he could. "I was a kittypet before. Not really my kinda life, as I realized. I was very young, no more than three moons old, when I went to go find my father. I thought he had come here, but I found out I was wrong." He realized that he sounded much older than an apprentice. "I decided, since I loved the holistic nature and such, and Breezeclan needed a medicine cat, I should help out." He said simply, not adding details where they would probably create a turning point in the story. It was something for himself, and he was thinking about it as he looked up to see a kit approach.
"I'm sure your fine, and good morning!" He said at the kit's apology - so far the black cat didn't seem like one to get riled up from a kitten accidentally bumping into him, although he knew many that would.

Skookum nodded, listening interestedly to the odd cat's tail. "Yes," he began in an agreeing tone of voice, but before he could continue, a small lump of black fur had bumped into him. He looked down. "S'Alright, no damage done" he mewed down in an amused tone. After that, he sort of paused. He didn't really know what to do around kits, he sure hadn't been hanging around them for a long while. He supposed that would have to change, now that he was in a clan. He finally decided to finish what he had been about to say, not sure whether this was ignoring the kit or not or whether that was to be avoided. "Yeah, I haven't seen much of those twolegs but I don't know if I'd want to be owned by them." he paused for now, not knowing whether to give a short version of his story or not. He had no way of telling whether the other cats were interested.

Midnightkit blinked at the two cats and stepped back a few times, looking at the hairless cat. She tilted her head slightly in question, but decided against saying anything. She plopped down on her rump and looked up at the other black cat, blinking, listening to him. "My mama used to live with twolegs." She piped up.
"And then me and my brothers met up with some while we had to live near them... They were very nice, but being wild was much more fun. They had a noisy, yapping dog that always used to run away from me." She said, gold eyes wandering to her paws. Midnightkit never noticed that she talked a lot, but it never really matter to the ones who were there to listen.

"You could scare away a twoleg dog as an even younger kit? Quite impressive." Dewpaw's tail flicked happily as he praised the kit. He remembered his own run-ins with dogs. They were all quite big, at least comparatively. Dewpaw watched both of the cats, his hairless body twitching under the skin as the heat broke through the shade.
"I don't believe I know either of your names. I'm Dewpaw, if you didn't already know mine." His eyes, which matched the color of his brownish-pink skin, blinked against the sun it moved over slightly. He began to lick the inside of his front legs absent-mindedly - a trick he knew to keep his body temperature at a normal level, even in the sun.

I'm Skookum," he added cheerfully "Probably not for too long though. It's not exactly a warrior-type name." He paused, reflecting. "Speaking of that, I wonder when they'll give me a new name.... And what will it be?" he meowed somewhat off into space. What would his new name be? What if he didn't like it? And he was rather fond of his old name, it may be an unusual name for a cat but it was his name and he was attached to it. It was the name his mother picked for him. He remembered her telling him about it. As a former kittypet, she knew a cat named Skookum once before. According to her, the name meant "Strong" according to some twoleg word. Oh well, he thought, it can't be that bad of a name. All the clan names I've heard so far have been nice sounding. And even if they change my name, it doesn't mean I have to completely forget my old one does it?"

Midnightkit beamed up at Dewpaw. "Well, he was a small twoleg dog..." She said, though waved her tail proudly. She blinked and looked at Skookum, then jumped to her paws. "I'm Midnightkit." she purred, trotting around to the other side of the two cats and sitting down once again. "I don't really care much what my name is when I'm a warrior. I bet it's gonna be good anyway. They make pretty good names around here in these clans!" She meowed, waving her tail again happily.

Dewpaw smiled at Midnightkit as she held her tail up high. "As far as names go, I ended up quite happy with mine, or at least the prefix of it." He said, chuckling lightly. He looked over at Skookum, finding the name had a very fun ring to it when he thought about it. "I'm sure it will be a fine name, whatever it is." he meowed, continuing to lick his forearms to cool off. "Although you can't say they're very original. Yours will probably start with Shadow - a black cat with a name that's already like it - I think it's a given." He explained with a shrug, and reminded himself to start a betting chain.

"Oh," he mewed unenthusiastically. Shadow-something. It definitely didn't sound very interesting to him. But he had to admit that Dewpaw was probably right. If anything, I'd prefer it as the last part of the name. What kind of name would he want anyways? He thought of something to do with the wind... But no, they were BreezeClan. That wouldn't work out too well. Smoke? He rather liked that as a prefix. Raven seemed to appeal to him too. "I'm not so keen on Shadow," he mewed cautiously "I dunno, it doesn't seem to fit me too much. Well, it fits my pelt colour, but not much other then that. I'm not really a dark and mysterious cat or anything like that."

Midnightkit yawned slightly, licking at her shoulders. She hadn't been in a clan too long, but it already was kind of irritating her. She didn't want to remember a whole bunch of rules. But, she was patient that way. She did a lot of things she didn't want to do. Like leaving Russet. The air around her suddenly got gloomier as she remembered her brother. She missed him a lot already... She let out a breath and flicked her tail, looking back to the two cats as they talked. "Midnight's kind of a common name, isn't it?" she asked slowly.

Dewpaw nodded in understanding of Skookum, although he noticed that a lot of the time Warrior names did only match the color of a cat. He hadn't been in the clan long, but already he had heard of more white cats with 'Ice' or 'Snow' and more black cats with 'Shadow' that he cared for. He was surprised when his own was picked. After all, 'Dew' wasn't quite as common as the others. He also didn't know what it said about him. Probably nothing. A soft wind picked up and he tilted his body once again to face the sun. He looked towards the kit, seeing the sadness in the little one's face as she seemed to think about something, a memory probably. "I would say so. Do you think it fits you?" he asked in attempt to know the cats better.
