Aquastruck was far north of GaleClan's camp; he had only been in this direction once before, when he had been shown the borders of GaleClan for the first time a few moons ago.
It was good territory, he thought, with piles of boulders, clumps of small bushes, and clusters of pine trees, and a nice overcast sky currently that helped his light-sensitive red eyes. Except for the fact that many of the boulder piles were right on the edge of the cliffs. Yeah, he could live without that. In fact, he'd be happy if he never saw another boulder-on-the-edge-of-a-cliff-ready-to-fall-off.
But it was interesting to explore, and he was pretty sure that he would be able to jump out of the way of a boulder. And the prey was running well, too. Small birds seemed to like the fallen pinecones -- oh! there was one right now!
The blue tomcat crouched down and leapt at the bird, catching it easily. He pulled the feathers off and took a bite. It was tasty and plump, and Aquastruck savored the taste as he chomped the mouthful a few times before letting it slide down his throat. He wasn't really supposed to be eating right now, since he hadn't caught anything for the clan yet, but with so much prey around, he could surely catch twice as much as needed to make up for what he had eaten. It wasn't like it was leaf-bare or anything.

Willowpaw had been taking a walk. Why? Why not, that's why. There was nothing to do in camp, anyway, so she went out. She smelled Aquastruck's trail. Curious, she decided to follow him. Not that she suspected him of anything, she just felt like it.
When she was near him, Willowpaw crouched down. She really shouldn't be watching him, but there was nothing else to do. He caught a bird, which made Willowpaw happy, then he started eating it. She knew at that moment there was a correction to made. Even when you were stepping on prey, you should still bring it back to camp. The ktis, queens, and elders always got fed first. Just because he wasn't on a hunting patrol didn't, in Willowpaw's opinion, mean he could be eating it.
So she left her little hiding place and went over to Aquastruck. "Hi! Shouldn't you be bringing prey to camp if you're going to bother going after it?" she asked, looking at the remains of the bird. She was pretty hungry herself, not having eaten anything yet, but she would be good and bring it back to camp if she caught something. Willowpaw felt an odd need to act right around Aquastruck, she wasn't sure why.

((DX So sorry for the late post, I've been so busy over the last day or two that I've barely been able to get on))
He heard the other cat approaching and waved his tail in greeting, but paused to savor the last tasty morsels of bird before he turned to face her, swiping his tongue around his mouth and chin and across his whiskers as far as he could reach. "We're practically swimming in a pool of prey today. The weather is good, and shows no signs of changing into something that would drive the prey into hiding, and I'm good enough at hunting that I think I can catch enough to make up for what I've eaten. Besides, I'm hungry."
Aquastruck sat down facing the other cat, studying her face curiously. She looked familiar, but he didn't usually hang around with the apprentices and he couldn't recall her name. He raised one of his front paws and licked it a few times, then swiped the damp fur over his muzzle, all the while looking at her. Wasn't she Rainfall's apprentice? But trying to remember her name was hopeless, and he finally sighed and tilted his head to the side inquisitively and asked, "I'm sorry, I don't think I got your name."

Willowpaw twitched her whiskers when Aquastruck answered. "I'm Willowpaw, and you should still be bringing it back. If we're swimming in that much prey, it shouldn't be hard to eat it at camp. It would look better if you brought it back anyway." She herself would have brought it back just to prove she had caught it. Even though she could have, Willowpaw wouldn't say she'd caught something and eaten it. That wasn't as easy to prove, and didn't exactly look very good. She looked rather sternly at Aquastruck for only being an apprentice.

"But I'm hungry now. When I'm hungry, I'm not in the mood to go out in the territory hunting, catch something, take it back to camp, go out again, and then catch something and then eat it. I want to eat now. Besides, the hunting patrols that went out should have been able to catch something by now to feed to the injured cats that can't leave camp yet. I'm not on a hunting patrol," he argued back.
Done with his bird, he began to lick one of his front paws and wash his face, tilting his ears back in annoyance at the smears of blue dye washing off from around his muzzle. It looked like he would have to dye his fur again soon. Maybe he could try some interesting patterns, tabby stripes or a ringed tail perhaps?

Willowpaw sighed and gave up on Aquastruck. He just wasn't a Clan cat like the rest, and he didn't understand how it would just look better to bring it back. Maybe when he had been here longer he would understand it, but until then, she would have to live with him and how he acted. She was thinking about just leaving now, as there wasn't anything to do here really. She could go hunting, but that was about all she could do right now. "Maybe I'll see you some time. If you're going to catch something else, you might as well bring it back" Willowpaw said to Aquastruck as she turned to leave.

"Hey, I'll head back with you, maybe catch something on the way. It's getting a little chilly, anyway, and I don't want to be up on this mountain if it gets colder," Aquastruck said, trotting after the apprentice. It was too bad about the weather, really, he had just been getting started on what looked likely to turn out to be a nice exploring sort of adventure, when that cold, winter-smelling breeze had swept over him. The blue tomcat sniffed at the air again. Yes, the smell was definitely there, and had grown stronger from just a few moments ago.
He bounded ahead a few fox-lengths, glancing around for the quickest path down the sloping, ledge-covered mountainside and back to the camp. If he turned right, he would be following the path that he had come here by, but he thought that if he turned to the left he could reach the camp sooner. Yes, the camp had that big mudslide-shallow-canyon place to the east, and he knew he could climb down that easily. "Hey, Willowpaw, is this the right way to get home?" He jabbed his tail to the left.

Willowpaw felt a touch of annoyance at his enthusiasm. She kind of wished this cat hadn't joined her Clan, he just didn't seem to know anything. She hissed frustration when he asked her where home was. "Just follow your scent trail back!" she snapped at him. Then she went to go follow her's back. She was going to be the best Clan cat she could be, even if he wasn't about to be. Aquastruck could do whatever he wanted for all she cared, Willowpaw would do what she planned to do.
