Prelude
Glowing hotly and brighter than anything even as it set, the sun sent shafts of light across mostly open land until they fell across the ruins of an old, gray stone building. The fur of the loose circle of cats there was highlighted in orange, and their eyes flashed red. Long black shadows stretched from where they sat to halfway to the horizon like bars on a cage.
The two cats in the center of the ring were arguing, pacing back and forth while snarling at each other in exasperation.
"But why would you do that?" One, a tomcat, yowled at the other. "I thought you didn't want to belong to a clan anyway? Or at least, you didn't want to when Iceclaw suggested it this morning before he left."
"No, I think a clan would be a great idea, but I don't want to be led by him," the female one shot back. "He just wants his old territory back. I, on the other paw, want to be the leader of a clan, and use it to assimilate the others until there is no competition for prey. The clan can then grow and grow, until it covers the land from here to the mountains. Maybe it'll even get bigger. There's really no limit to the size that ClawClan can grow to. ClawClan -- I like the name. Iceclaw did have some good ideas..."
"And how do you propose to do this?"
"Easy. First, we assassinate the leader of --"
"No."
"What?"
"No, I'm not going to help you! In fact, I'll work against you!"
"... have it your own way, then. Vote?"
The ring of cats pulled apart, most of them quietly slinking into the shadows, but around ten of them going to stand behind the she-cat and only two or three clustering near the tomcat. The she-cat grinned triumphantly at the other. "Great." She began trotting towards the north, pausing on the crest of the hill to look back over her shoulder and call back towards the few remaining cats, "oh yeah, Storm, and if you follow us, we'll kill you." She then vanished behind the hill.
Storm pointedly turned his back on her and gazed at his supporters. "Well, that went pretty well, didn't it? Just as planned."
Murmured agreements came back from the small group, and one of them nodded his head enthusiastically. Their leader continued, his voice kept hushed. "Now, we know a bit of their plans, which should help convince the clan cats that we're just nice, friendly cats, here because our sense of honor wouldn't let us not give them news of approaching battle and help in any way we can.
"They'll never guess that we, too, want to take over their territory."
Part one
Oh no! There are so many things going on, and each clan has its share of troubles. The cat that StarClan chose to be the leader of GaleClan has mysteriously disappeared, and a small band of rogues shows up, from which GaleClan desperately chooses their new leader. MireClan's medicine cat and leader have had a very bad feeling for a few days, so when StarClan sends them a good omen and tells them to look in a certain area of the forest for the thing that will save them from certain destruction, they are very grateful and go to look, and find... a four-month-old puppy. Uncertain of what to do, they take it in and do their best to make a part of the clan, but several difficulties ensue. Oh yeah, and the ThornClan leader shows up on their territory after having lost one of his lives to the claws and teeth of invaders that are trying to take over his clan. As for BreezeClan... that bunch of rogues goes into complete chaos when their leaders try to make an announcement. In fact, it's so bad that the rogues go and split up all of BreezeClan's territory into small chunks. One chunk for each cat.
So the question is... what in the world will the clans do now?
