Branchwhisker watched as the kit made a wide circle around him, and smirked. The little thing couldn't hide from her problems forever. Instead he stepped to the side to get out of Darkkit's way, and plopped himself down under the shade. He watched her walk towards the nursery, then turned to Specklefeather. "I couldn't help but overhear. I'm guessing I'm despised?" He licked his chest a couple times to clean it before looking up again.

Specklefeather purred with amusement. "It looks like you are. I'm sure there will plenty of other kits who would love to have you as their mentor. Darkkit just isn't one of them." Branchwhisker would have plenty of time to get his own apprentice. He was barely a warrior anyone, one moon wouldn't be much difference from that. Most likely, this would just be a convenient excuse as to why he didn't get Darkkit, even if Darkkit would like that.

Branchwhisker chuckled lightly. "I don't think it matters anyway. I'll have to be /some/ cat's mentor. Do my part for the clan and such." He knew that Specklefeather was thinking there was plenty of time, since he was the newest warrior after all. Some cat would have to be his apprentice, so it didn't really matter if they /liked/ each other. They would have to be strong and get over it just like any other forest cat.
Branchwhisker didn't get along with his mentor at all - just as he didn't get along with anybody. It was touch going having to listen to someone who wouldn't listen to you, or you didn't think was doing a good enough job. He got through it though, and so would his apprentice.

Sorrelthorn paused, confused, then sniffed around. This was a scent he had never smelled before. Why was it there? It wasn't any Clan scent he knew of. Sorrelthorn immediately turned and ran back to camp. This had to be reported. Maybe someone would know what it meant, an older cat, with more experience. He had left his patrol to do a bit of hunting, but he didn't stop to wait for them, they would see he had gone back.
Sorrelthorn hurtled into camp and saw Specklefeather by Branchwhisker. He hurried over to them and stopped, breathing hard. Specklefeather turned to him. "Sorrelthorn? What is it?"
"Odd-Odd scent on the border, by the old BreezeClan territory. I've never scented it before" Sorrelthorn said. Specklefeather's eyes flashed. He would have loved to go, but he was leader. Maybe Branchwhisker would like the job, Specklefeather turned to him.
"Branchwhisker? You feel up to a little exploring?" The tom might enjoy it, and it could be anything. Specklefeather wondered what this scent was. Rogue cats, wanting territory, perhaps? Well, they wouldn't be getting theirs, not without a fight.

Branchwhisker smirked, tail thrashing as he stretched his claws. "Of course!" He said, moving towards the tunnel exit. He nodded his head in good-bye, then jumped through the brush and out of camp, towards the Breezeclan border.
